Within her designs Shelby uses innovative mechanisms or fittings or shapes, with changeable units, occasionally with internal musical elements, the jewellery often involves options for the wearer through its multiple functions. Pendants become rings. Rethinking rings as non-circular, double or chiming, they appear to float on the hand or have colour changes. Necklaces can be worn in several different ways. Elements of smell and sound are entering the designs. The work is predominantly silver and gold with other materials added, such as interchangable silks, stainless steel, paper or coloured polypropylene.
