Sarah is a contemporary slipware potter: her work lies in the tradition of English slipware, though she prefers to use Porcelain clay for its lovely translucent quality. The techniques used are the same, but in order to bring out the quality of the porcelain, the process used is quite different.
The work is thrown on the potters wheel and individually decorated, focusing on functional domestic ware. When making the glazes, Sarah aims for soft, natural colours reminiscent of a cottage garden. Patterns vary from grasses to lavender and roses and pieces are designed to be mixed and matched.
Sarah works from her studio in Cambridge, where she also teaches workshops.
