Known for selecting contemporary art and craft of the highest quality, the gallery team has handpicked artists and makers from across the country. The exhibition presents glass, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture, prints and paintings by more than sixty talented established and emerging artists.

Claire Ireland

Claire's work consists of individual hand built pieces. Working from sheets of clay, she decorate the constructed surfaces and forms with colour and slips. Found fragments of pattern and texture are important in developing new ways of making marks. The images and forms are developed through sketchbook drawings, combining a fascination for the tribal and ceremonial aspects of past cultures, integrated with contemporary sources. The work is on different scales, small objects and keepsakes often accompany larger creatures, be it human or animal. The pieces often embrace fragments of fused glass, manipulated metal constructions or found objects. Selecting these mixed media elements is crucial to the finished piece, and the intention is to sustain an equilibrium, between the clay forms, decoration and narrative.
