Ruth Taylor

Having settled on the Surrey/Hampshire border Ruth worked with fabric for several years before returning to painting. She creates landscapes in oils on board and canvas, applying layers of paint using brushes, combs and her hands, building up layers and texture before using a variety of tools to scratch and mark the surface. Ruth tries to capture the landscape in all weathers and seasons as well as the marks made on the land by man throughout the centuries.

Ruth's inspiration comes from the South Downs of her childhood, the wide open spaces of heath lands and estuaries and the sheer pleasure of applying paint to canvas!

Ruth lives in Hindhead, Surrey
1983 B.A (Hons) Printed Textiles, West Surrey College of Art and Design.
