The New Ashgate Gallery invites members of the public to come and vote for their favourite artist.
Surrey Artist of the Year competition is a valuable partnership between New Ashgate gallery and Surrey Artists Open Studios. Starting in 2009; this aspirational exhibition offers a collective of local quality fine arts and craft as voted for by the public during their June Surrey open studio visits.
The top 10 artists come together for a programme of events including exhibition throughout the New Ashgate Gallery in October. There is always a fabulous variety of artworks on show, all offering different materials and techniques, from ceramics, collage, glass, jewellery, painting, and photography to printmaking, sculpture, textiles and woodwork. Members will not be disappointed by the wealth of Surrey creative talent.
Members of the public are encouraged to vote for their favourite artist; and the artist with the most votes from public and judging panel, is named Surrey Artist of the Year 2015. Judging this year's overall winner will be Mr Robert Moore, the Patricia Baines Trust; Jane McGibbon, Surrey Artists Open Studios Coordinator and Caroline Harrap, editor of the Surrey Life magazine. The winner receives a bursary worth £1,000 and a solo show at New Ashgate Gallery.
