Carys makes bowls, vases and beakers, thrown on the wheel in porcelain, They are smooth inside, but organic outside - rough with volcanic glazes, sometimes sitting on flotsam as though washed up on the tide. She likes very simple shapes, but ones that show the marks of their making - oval from lifting them while wet, curving from the heat of the firing.
Carys also make groups of vessels, emphasising the subtle variations and rhythms that come from repetition. Sometimes she re-fire pieces together: they look like cargoes of pots found at the bottom of the sea, worked on by sea and sand until they have become something half-organic, half-made.
