Angie Parker

Angie Parker is an award winning weaver of rugs and exquisite, vibrant textiles derived from Scandinavian rug weaving techniques.

Specialising in hand-weaving, she uses long established techniques, such as Krokbragd, and after being taught rug weaving by the late Susan Foster at art college in the 1990's, she pursued a career in costume for a number of years whilst continuing to weave on small scale collections.

Combining her weaving with an instinctive and daring approach to colour, she offers a creative process of importing a contemporary element to the time honoured techniques of weaving and the responses from the viewer are what excites her most about this.

After a year spent living in India and more recently, the dynamic graffiti and houses in her Bristol neighbourhood, she has found that both of these location have influenced the fabulously joyful palette which is intrinsic to her weaving and designs today.

Working in reclaimed high quality rug wool and a variety of other yarns Angie meticulously hand-weaves and finishes all the original pieces herself on her Glimakra Floor loom at BV Studios in Bristol.
