Born in Canada, Art Foundation at Bower Aston in Bristol, BA Hon's in 3-D design majoring in ceramics at The West Surrey College of art and Design. In 1988 Debbie set up a large workshop at Penhalvean with 60 cubic foot downdraft trolley kiln, which was worked for 20 years.
Trading all over the UK in Crafts Council selected galleries, also galleries in France, Germany, USA and Canada. The German crafts Council invited potters to symposium for 6 professionals to have eight weeks to work on a project of their own choosing. Debbie focused on Bronze Age making and firing methods. She attended a residency at Sanbao Ceramic centre Jingdezhen, China studying porcelain production.
From 1980 until 2004 she focused on producing raw fired earthenware. Now after moving to Newlyn Debbie has been exploring stoneware and porcelain raw materials. She is now concentrating on achieving 'new skills, to allow production of functional pots with an aesthetic' she 'admires and wish to share'. She says 'it is extraordinary to begin from square one, exciting and fascinating to indulge in such research; renewing my love and joy for pots'.
