Mychael Barratt

Mychael Barratt was born in Canada but after arriving 20 years ago he now thinks of himself as a Londoner. He has the immigrant's zeal for his adopted home and includes local settings that have a personal resonance in much of his work.

He is a narrative artist and anecdotal incidents from his day-to-day life, which he gathers like a magpie, are at the heart of his paintings and prints. Mychael's etchings are magical, clever and skilfully executed, depicting everyday circumstances with a twist, and intelligent imitations on the old masters famous works.Mychael Barratt studied art at the Symposium School of Art, and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Canada. He worked for many years as a freelance illustrator then studied etching at Central St Martins School of Art and became a full-time printmaker. His work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the UK and internationally.
