Hajra Williams's distinctive and modern jewellery is informed by the geometric art of her Pakistani-Indian heritage. Inspiration also comes from the Indian collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum where she worked for nearly two decades.
Combining traditional processes and new technologies, Hajra creates enduring jewellery with a strong focus on clean lines and geometric forms. Patterns found in Islamic geometry and Mughal art are transformed into elegant jewellery. Each piece is crafted by hand in silver, gold and gemstones.
The brand was developed and launched in 2015 at The Goldsmiths' Centre in London's Hatton Garden.
Biography
Hajra studied Jewellery design at Glasgow School of Art, gaining a first class BA Honours degree before studying for a Masters degree in Fine Art at the Royal College of Art in London and subsequently developing a career in Museum education at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Her early enamel jewellery is in private collections and Glasgow City's Modern Art collection.
