Emma is a designer / maker based near the seaside in Westbourne, Dorset. She makes jewellery that is inspired by mid-century fabric prints, architecture and illustrations, influencing my choice of colour and form. Emma wants her work to retain its wearability, but also likes to imagine jewellery as small-scale sculpture.
She likes to collage different metal elements together, working with wire and cast forms. Emma starts designing with brief sketches in 2D, but quickly moves to 3D experimentation. There is always a period of trial and error in her process, putting together a jigsaw of all the individual elements and then rearranging until wearable pieces start to appear.
