Madeleine Jude, New Ashgate Gallery Craft Prize at the Festival of Crafts, Jane Crisp and Judith Needham

Madeleine Jude is a textile designer and handweaver known for her beautifully soft lambswool throws, cushions and home textiles, woven using complex block weave techniques.

Her designs are influenced by Scandinavian weaving traditions and her colour aesthetic has much in common with the beautiful and naturalistic colour palette of early 20th century Swedish women rug weavers such as Marta Maas-Fjetterstrom and Ingegerd Silow. Each of her designs is a celebration of her great love of colour and pattern and an exploration of new weave structures and design elements. Every piece is meticulously handwoven, hand fringed or blanket stitched and hand finished by Madeleine in her Surrey studio, and as a result every piece is unique.

The exhibition also includes best-selling, bespoke trugs by Jane Crisp's and fabulous baskets for cats by Judith Needham.
