Lucy Blackley

Baking evokes emotions of safety and nourishment; recipes are handed down the generations, becoming family heirlooms, baking becomes a ritual of process. Lucy enhances this familiarity to have specific bakeware connected to recipes; she seeks to produce sleek, modern and beautiful cookware to enhance this. The flavours of the bake influence the colours she uses in order to encourage the flavours to come through during the baking and eating. Lucy wants these pieces to become a part of your home and fit into your baking routine, being easy and comfortable to use, making you want to use them. Just as you form a connection to a recipe, Lucy wants people to form a connection with her pieces, as bakeware is a tool used to create delicious things and share with other people.

These pieces start out as digital designs, allowing Lucy to test many configurations before making them, she then 3d prints them to create a perfect replica that can be used repeatedly to create the moulds. Lucy uses the process of slip casting as this lends itself to creating functional bakeware.
