Tamar Rose's inspiration comes from richly textured decorative hand built porcelain, born of a fascination with dramatic forms- their textures, movement and silhouettes.
Her evolution as an artist and maker has brought her from the Harrow tradition of thrown functional ceramics to this current range of decorative porcelain, she is a selected member of the C.P.A (Craft Potters Association) and currently works from her barn in the rural Sussex town of Steyning.
In the 25 years of making she has always felt compelled to create in three dimensions - this has included forets into other mediums such as metal, fabric and willow. Ultimately though, the plasticity and malleability of clay has offered her the most flexible material in which to realise her visions.
Clay is her sketch book. Each piece or collection of pieces is unique and part of my journey as a maker.
