Virginia's process begins with observation and research developed with imagination and memories of people long associated with the landscape. Referencing their family photographs and incorporating materials gathered from the land, Virginia seeks to create an interwoven layering of local history, experience and memory. Her creative process is one of building layers, scratching, erasing and then rebuilding, with multi layered surfaces of paint and mixed media, referencing the landscape's evolution in this memorable place. In this work, Virginia's concern is with the coastline and marshes of North Norfolk.
