Victor has spent his lifetime drawing, having illustrated over 300 books, and designed 20 stamp sets Jersey, Royal mail, Isle of Man and other countries. His main interest is drawing the human figure and animals from life. All his works are drawn from life. The mediums Victor uses are pastel pencil, pastel, carbon pencil and watercolour. Born in Budapest Hungary; he left Hungary after the repression of 1956 uprising and came to England.

He has studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, Farnham School of Art (2 terms), and the Royal College of Art. In 1957 he became an Associate at the Royal College of Art. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter/Etchers and the Royal Society of Arts and is an honorary member of the Society of Graphic Artists.

He lectured at Farnham, Guildford and Epsom Colleges of Art from 1963 to 1985. He has been awarded the 'Kate Greenaway Medal for Illustration' twice, the World Wildlife Fund Prize and the Royal Academy of Arts, Arts Club Drawing Prize. In 1993 he was elected a Member of the Pastel Society and he served as Vice President of the Society from 2004-2007.

For the past nineteen years he has been the resident artist for the TV series TIME TEAM, after the producer discovered The Story of Britain In the Public Library. He was one of seven illustrators to represent Britain in Japan in 1998 in the exhibition The World of English Picture Books.
