Rosalinda Kightley

Biography

Rosalinda studied Graphic Design at Kingston College of Art in the early eighties, then spent the following few years working as a book designer for the fledgling children's book publisher Walker Books in London. Her design roughs became more and more detailed, leading her art director to question whether she had ever considered illustrating the books herself. So began her next career move as a children's picture book illustrator. Rosalinda then spent the next 30 years illustrating books for Walker Books, Scholastic, Usborne Books, Little Tiger Press, Campbell Books, Harper Collins, Boxer Books to name but a few. recently her work has taken a new direction as a painter. Mainly working in acrylics on board, canvas or paper, different surfaces lending themselves to different moods or subjects. Walking is a very important part of Rosalinda's creative life, with inspiration coming from scenes and sights whilst out in country or urban settings. Ideas will grow whilst ticking off the miles, sometimes arriving fully formed or growing as she puts paint on a surface. Getting immersed in a good book, or atmospheric film can also set off a train of thought that can lead to a new piece of work.

Rosalinda works from her studio in her home in Guildford.
