Katherine Kingdon

Biography

Katherine's artistic practice revolves around the malleable medium of clay. Guided by a fusion of extensive drawing and playful exercises reminiscent of her experiences with young children and teaching creativity, each piece she creates seeks a delicate equilibrium between intuition, reason, and action.

The forms take shape under the influence of various artists, notably Kandinsky, serving as loose foundations. Through a continuous process of drawing and redrawing, Katherine refines her creations, maintaining a deliberate sense of looseness. Surface images emerge from a unique creative game, creating a distinctive visual language.

Intrigued by the innate human desire to find humanity in the world, she channels this curiosity into uncovering the human within seemingly random patches of clay. This exploration births narratives intentionally infused with ambiguity, creating spaces where, for Katherine, the true poetry of her artwork blossoms.
