Alison Proctor

Biography

Alison draws inspiration from the natural landscape, seamlessly blending her love for movement with her fascination for the world around her. Her artwork often features elements of plant life and studies from land and seascape, sculpturally crafted using various techniques that best suit the subject matter, whether it's wheel-thrown or hand-built.

Having trained as a dancer and graduated from the University of Roehampton with a degree in Dance and Art, Alison's career path shifted due to an injury. She pursued lighting design, working across theatre, dance, and architecture, while also teaching at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. It was during this time that she discovered ceramics, attending courses with renowned potters such as the Cardew Pottery, Deborah Baynes, and Kevin Millward. Captivated by ceramics, Alison decided to further her studies at the Royal Forest of Dean College, graduating with a diploma in Studio Ceramics and the prestigious Michael Casson award.

Establishing her own studio in 2000, Alison became a member of London Potters and has exhibited her work at various galleries as well as prestigious venues like City Hall and the RAC Club in London.
