Su Jameson's hand built ceramic sculptures strive to create exchanges, both physical and emotional. Drawn from personal experiences, interactions and observations her work explores human strength and fragility, communication, and belonging. At once particular and universal the work invites contemplation and reinterpretation.
Expression is sought through form and surfaces created through various stoneware clays; porcelain, black, and crank, that is impressed to create textures then manipulated into structures using slab and direct modelling techniques. Finally, inspired by earth colours; slips, oxides and glazes are applied.
Su won the Surrey Artist of the Year competition in 2017.
