A potter for 25 years, Lindy has been quietly making and selling her work at designer maker and ceramic fairs, select galleries and open studios, whilst teaching the joys of clay to adult students at her workshop. Now retired from teaching, Lindy is free to concentrate on a passion for the material that started at school in art lessons, making Picasso inspired fish, chips and peas on a plate!
After studying Textiles at Hereford College of Art and then careers in management at the Chelsea Arts Club and a second career in the Interior Design of grand houses around the world, Lindy found ceramics and took every course available whilst working and bringing up a family. She has taken master classes with the best contemporary makers today, including a residential course with David & Margaret Frith, and classes with Takashi Yasuda, Phil Rogers, Gareth Malone, Carina Ciscato and Chris Keenan. After a C&G course in Ceramics and a Glaze and Firing programme, Lindy opened her first studio 20 years ago. She now works from a home studio in SW London throwing and slab building in stoneware, porcelain and coloured porcelain clays.
Lindy works in different ways, never short of ideas or inspiration. This collection of textured 'Fern' slab built vessels is inspired by living near to Kew Gardens, Richmond Park and a damp, dark corner of her garden planted with many fern varieties. The hand building process is time consuming and each glaze reacts differently with the surface of the textured clay.
