Megan Collins

Biography

Megan Collins is a contemporary jewellery designer originally from South Africa now based in London. She has a background in fashion Design and a Degree in Fine Art from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University of Port Elizabeth. Megan currently teaches Art and Design at the International School of London. She began making jewellery officially in 2013 and has a Diploma in Jewellery Design from the Vannetta Seecharran School of Jewellery. Megan works mainly in Sterling Silver, using sheet or wire as a starting point, sometimes employing elements of gold, brass or oxidised silver to create contrasts.

Megan's initial ideas for this collection began with a few simple words that she felt expressed something about aesthetics in relation to jewellery that appealed to her. Words such as symmetry, balance, simplicity, contrast, smooth curves and repetition. The inspiration for this collection echoes the repetitive circular shapes of succulent plants. Megan's passion lies both in the designing and making of pieces and she would like to share this with people and hope they enjoy wearing them.
