Jaroslav Hrustalenko

Biography

Jaroslav Hrustalenko is an internationally renowned artist based in the UK. He has been engaged in creative practice and 3D design as well as in teaching craft pottery and making art ceramics professionally since 1989.

A Ukrainian descendant of multi-ethnic ancestors, he grew up in a multi-lingual environment saturated with culture, surrounded by art, music, literature and science. His creativity is driven by the passion for colour, shape and strong visual impression. Jaroslav constantly explores the natural world, fine art, science, music and dance, building his body of work on a broad multicultural background. The pieces can be viewed in a number of combinations, showing respectively different visual interaction.

Presented body of work renders several series of teapots and mugs with an intension to convey the sheer impression of energetic and graceful moves performed by dancers, swans, cockerels, peacocks or live chess figures. The collections can be viewed in numbers of ways: as one whole composition; as pairs in different combinations that show respectively different interaction or, as entirely separate pieces.

He has a Master of Art in 3D design as well as Professor of Fine Art. From November 2019 he has been a member of the Craft Potters Association (CPA).

Jaroslav has exhibited widely both in group and solo shows in the UK and abroad. The artist has also completed several large scale commissions for major international concerns. He's a qualified tutor and the author of several publications.
