An excellent training platform for individuals keen on gaining flexible experience in the creative, arts, and charity sectors. We are seeking enthusiastic gallery volunteers who wish to support a local arts organisation and/or gain experience in some or all of the following tasks:

  • Working directly with the public
  • Assisting in PR and marketing efforts
  • Supporting customer service and clients
  • Installing and dismounting exhibitions
  • Editing an exhibition catalogue
  • Assisting professional artists during education and local community workshops
  • Supporting events including private views and workshops.

We’d love to hear if you have any special interests and offer flexible hours that suit your timetable.

Why volunteer?

The art world is a highly competitive job market. To stand out, volunteering and gaining valuable gallery experience can help you stay one step ahead of your peers. The New Ashgate Gallery offers a dynamic environment, managing various practices from marketing to working with people. The knowledge and skills gained from working with our staff can provide not only vital experience but also help you clarify your professional direction.

How long do I volunteer for?

We understand that volunteering is a partnership between you and our organisation. We recommend volunteering one day per week for up to three months. We can assist you in working on a particular project and give you access to the gallery's day-to-day operations.

Recent Success Stories:

Rachel, who volunteered on Wednesdays, secured a job with Parker Harris, and Sarah, who volunteered on Fridays, has been offered a position at the V&A. We are delighted that our volunteering opportunities have helped kickstart their careers.
