Katharina Klug's work shows her love for simplicity of design and evokes the elemental colour and shape of ancient Korean pottery. Smooth surfaces are interrupted by wax resist lines the matt outside competes with the glossy colour on the inside.
She is inspired by contemporary architecture and the work of great makers such as Lucy Rie and Rupert Spira. Katharina's vessels are wheel-thrown porcelain and the glazes are mixtures developed by the artist. In reifying her designs she employs techniques like carving, scrafito and wax resist. All of Katharina's works are fired to 1260c in an electric or gas kiln depending on the glaze.
