Marshall Colman

Biography

Marshall is one of a very few potters working in the UK to decorate their ceramics by the ancient middle eastern method of tin glaze, dating from the tenth century.
Bold sweeping brush strokes apply vibrant colour to the powdery surface texture of white earthenware, to create a vibrant, immediate effect.

Marshal set up a pottery in Cornwall and trained at the Rodmell Pottery with Judith Partridge. Family commitments led him to less creative occupations but he returned to pottery as soon as he could, completing a BA in Ceramics at Harrow. Marshal later set up his studio in St. Albans from where he works today.
