Fiona Millais

"I have been exploring. My work has always been underpinned by the local landscape of heathlands, woods and pools, both remote and intimate. I explore its familiarity and its variety which constantly pushes me to broaden and extend my artistic vocabulary. I am intrigued by how landscapes are shaped, by ourselves and by our ancestors, leaving echoes, traces and marks. I have been exploring new environments too; walking fresh coastlines, finding new paths through the woods and even my recent attempts at gardening."
