Karen Dell'Armi Work by this artist

Artist Statement

Having given up her career to raise her family, Karen found a college course in Jewellery Design & Silversmithing, & was quite literally like a kid in a sweetshop! Mostly self taught, Karen has been bowled over by the support shown by friends, family, galleries and exhibition selectors.

Karen was told in Feb 2008 that she was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. The following months were a rollercoaster ride of emotions and neurological symptoms. Karen coped by concentrating on family life one day at a time & turning it into a positive by using the experience to design her next range.

The perseverance range represents the commitment Karen had to staying positive throughout - the pieces in this range feature individually hand-forged links - painstakingly soldered together one by one, requiring vast patience.

The serenity range represents Karen's desire to stay calm and composed around her children at a difficult time. Pieces in this range reflect the benefits Karen derived from meditating for relaxation & reinvigoration.

It was a real journey for Karen, her family and friends - but thankfully, in August 2008, Karen was told she didn't have MS which was a huge relief.
