Artist Statement

"My chief concern is with form. I draw my ideas from the natural world, rendered down into abstraction; their expression is informed by direct methods of manipulating metal. Spirals and radial symmetry interest me particularly. The way the natural world appears to follow mathematical principles intrigues me. All my work is hand-formed from flat metal by traditional methods, including raising, sinking and planishing over steel stakes and wooden or plastic formers. I have a particular interest in anticlastic raising, which produces forms which are both elegant and strong. Most of my jewellery is made in sterling silver."
